Reliability is proofed at stormy times

DACHSER moved 23 tons of retail products from France to Korea by air just in time before the festive season despite challenges of social protest, time and capacity.

DACHSER Korea successfully completed an urgent shipment before the Christmas holidays.

During the pre-Christmas period in 2019, DACHSER was able to find a solution to receive the entire order of retail cosmetic products within a tight time frame, whereas the competitions in the market was so strong that it was hard to find any space with airlines at the peak season.

A race against time

The request from the multinational beauty company came only on December 6: The shipment of 80 pallets had to be collected from a town near Orléans, a 3-hour drive from Paris in France, and delivered to the customer’s warehouse located in the Gyeonggi province, in the suburbs of Seoul in Korea, by December 20.

"At DACHSER we have a smart process design for capacity management, so we are able to offer our customers reliable services at any time even at the critical periods," Yves Larquemin, Managing Director Air & Sea Logistics Far East North

Thanks to the effective capacity management and the seamless communications between DACHSER France and DACHSER Korea, the air shipment was picked up from the origin and transferred smoothly to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in spite of the ongoing social protests in France against the change of national pension system. It was then dispatched via two direct flights to Seoul Incheon International Airport on December 15 and 16. Finally, DACHSER Korea delivered the shipment on December 18 at the customer's warehouse, two days prior to the deadline.

Despite the ongoing social protests, DACHSER France picked up and transferred the shipment smoothly to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Overcoming the challenges

“At DACHSER we have a smart process design for capacity management, so we are able to offer our customers reliable services at any time even at the critical periods,” said Yves Larquemin, Managing Director Air & Sea Logistics Far East North. “Due to the strike in France it was indeed a challengeable shipment and we did it on time,“ concluded Larquemin.
