"Our compass points us in the right direction"

Bernhard Simon, CEO of DACHSER, about crisis management as part of DACHSER’s culture

"As we find ourselves in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, it doesn’t hurt to take a look back at the year 1930; another period when, as you can imagine, times were very tough. The global economic crisis had Germany fully within its grip: industrial sales fell dramatically and the domestic transport market collapsed by some 20 percent within a year. Given this situation, it was a necessarily bold but nevertheless pioneering step for Thomas Dachser to set up his own freight forwarding and warehousing company.

Defying adverse circumstances while simultaneously taking advantage of the opportunities that always arise on dynamic markets has become deeply embedded in DACHSER’s culture. We use our own brainpower and resources to tackle problems—a common theme running through the company’s now 90-year history. This goes hand in hand with our having the courage to take calculated entrepreneurial risks, make decisions, and move away from majority views and industry trends.

Providing the best possible basis to continue the story

We rely on our very own compass, our heritage, to point us in the right direction. During the coronavirus pandemic, we have lived up to the trust that our customers, service partners, and employees place in DACHSER. Our logistics networks have proven to be stable, resilient, and ready to accommodate flexible solutions, and are available to our customers without restrictions—thus providing the best possible basis to continue our story."
